Slow + Sense & Mindfulness Training Toronto
Monica Maurin is the founder and director of Mindfulness Training Toronto, the online resource arm of slow + sense. She has taught mindfulness practices both corporately and privately since 2011, and Yogic practices since 2008. Her work includes the creation and production of various mindfulness programs and meditation CDs for children and adults, including Mindfulness for the Workday.
Monica’s background includes nursing studies and a dynamic career as a Certified Court Reporter for organizations including the Ontario Securities Commission and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Working also with a busy employment litigation team, she is familiar with the demands of the fast-paced, often stressful corporate and healthcare worlds.

Monica is a 700+-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga & Yoga Nidra Teacher, and a Certified Yin/Yang Yoga & Mindfulness teacher from Kripalu in Massachusettes. She has studied with Ananda Shakti Saraswati of Sananda Yoga in Toronto, Sarah Powers of the Insight Yoga Institute in the United States, and other international mindfulness and Yoga teachers and schools. She has received certification in Mindfulness Fundamentals from Mindful Schools in the USA, and completed the Power of Awareness program with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, two of the world leaders in mindfulness and mindful psychology, from the Greater Good Science Center at the University of California, Berkeley.
Monica has also completed studies of and holds a certificate in Foundations of Applied Mindfulness Meditation at the University of Toronto.
Monica’s work is influenced by the teachings of Risa Kaparo, Thich Nhat Hanh, Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Kristin Neff, Joseph Goldstein, Rick Hanson, Sharon Salzberg, Eline Snel and Jon Kabat-Zinn, among others. Her passion is helping people to improve the direct experience of their lives through mindfulness meditation and Yogic practices.
Monica is the primary teacher for Mindfulness Training Toronto and slow + sense and is assisted, depending on group size and needs, by dedicated mindfulness and Yoga teachers.

Monica teaches public weekly classes as well as customized corporate and private club programs. Monica also offers free weekly mindfulness drop-in groups at Gilda’s Club in Toronto, a support center founded by comedian Gilda Radner, for those whose lives have been touched by cancer.
